Soy Sauce Glazed Green Beans

In this post I’m sharing and easy side dish recipe for Soy Sauce Glazed Green Beans.

You may be thinking, soy sauce and green beans, really?! Yes! You’ll have to try this one to understand how flavorful these green beans turn out after cooking.

Whenever I serve them, I am always asked how I make them. For that reason, I decided to share this very easy recipe. Sometimes it is combining some of the most basic ingredients to create a tasty dish that your whole family will love.

If you’re concerned about sodium level in soy sauce, you could opt for a lower sodium version. I happen to like the regular soy sauce. I’m not saying this is one of those dishes that you should make every other day but it is good.

I enjoy having a few ways to prepare a vegetable in my recipe collection and this deserves a spot in yours. So, my friend, I am happy to share this super easy way to put a new flavor twist on a green bean for you.

Here’s how to make ’em

Here are the ingredients that you’ll need to make this side dish:

  • Canned Green Beans
  • Chicken Stock
  • Soy Sauce , regular or low sodium
  • Dried Minced Onions
  • Cracked Black Pepper, to taste
Drain and rinse green beans. Add them to a medium sauce pan with chicken stock, soy sauce, minced onions and black pepper.

Bring to a rapid boil. Cook over medium high heat until almost all of the liquid is evaporated.

That’s it! So easy ? Use vegetable stock instead of chicken stock to make this dish vegan.

What to serve with these flavor packed Green Beans?

Soy sauce glazed green beans make a fantastic side dish that pairs well with a variety of main courses. Here are some options to consider:

  1. Grilled Chicken: Serve the green beans alongside juicy grilled chicken breasts or thighs. The savory soy sauce glaze complements the mild flavor of the chicken perfectly.

  2. Stir-Fried Tofu: For a vegetarian or vegan option, pair the green beans with stir-fried tofu. The tofu can be marinated in a similar soy sauce-based sauce to create a cohesive flavor profile.

  3. Teriyaki Salmon: The sweet and savory flavors of teriyaki-glazed salmon go hand-in-hand with soy sauce glazed green beans. It’s a delightful combination of Asian-inspired flavors.

  4. Beef Stir-Fry: Create a complete Asian-inspired meal by serving the green beans with a beef stir-fry. Use thinly sliced beef, vegetables, and a stir-fry sauce that complements the soy sauce glaze.

  5. Pork Tenderloin: A succulent roasted or grilled pork tenderloin pairs beautifully with soy sauce glazed green beans. The rich and tender pork complements the umami-rich green beans.

  6. Fried Rice: Turn it into a full Asian feast by serving the green beans with vegetable or shrimp fried rice. The fried rice provides a satisfying contrast in textures and flavors.

  7. Noodles: Consider serving the green beans alongside Asian-style noodles, such as lo mein or chow mein. It creates a balanced and satisfying meal.

  8. Roasted Duck: For a special occasion, roast a duck and serve it with soy sauce glazed green beans. The richness of the duck meat pairs wonderfully with the savory beans.

Remember to balance flavors and textures when planning your meal, and you’ll have a delicious and well-rounded dining experience.

EEEEE I really, really hate canned green beans, but this recipe sounds so good. Could pre-boiled or cooked green beans be subbed in for the canned and still get great results, or no? Thanks!

Hi Lynn, Sure they could. Use whatever you like and just cook them down until tender. ~Julia
