Nottoway Plantation - Louisiana

One of my favorite plantations ~ The Nottoway Plantation Mansion, overlooking the Mississippi River, is the largest remaining antebellum mansion in the state of #Louisiana with 53,000 sq feet of floor space. The house enjoyed 19th-century novelties such as a bathroom located on each floor with flushing toilets and hot and cold running water, gas lighting throughout the house and a complex servant call bell system. The house ceased being a private home in 2003 and is now a resort & event venue. #TheSouth

Completed in 1859, Nottoway’s boasts 64 rooms and countless extravagant features like 22 massive exterior columns, 12 hand-carved Italian marble fireplaces, exquisitely detailed plaster frieze moldings, soaring 15½-foot ceilings, enormous 11-foot doors and a lavish pure white oval ballroom, as well as unheard of innovative features, like modern bathrooms with running water and a gas plant providing gas lighting throughout the home.

  1. This was my second time attending an event at this place, and was my first business event here (the other event was a charity show). Everything at this event space was perfect, the drinks and food was amazing. Even the coffee was wonderful.
